DA ROOKIEZ

Two Brothers from Virginia, Jaquan "2 Up" and Keon "Great" Grant, form a dynamic hip hop duo that creating music that emphasizes lyrics, emotion, reality, and a lot of energy.

Coming from Portsmouth, VA, they were all introduced to music at a young age. Keon Great began rapping at the age of 7, and 2 Up at the age of 9. The duo soon formed a group along with older cousin Jerome Grant, and friends Shaun, Demarco, Tyme, and Anthony Mcnair. After the tragic loss of group member Anthony Mcnair, due to a shooting accident at the young age of 16, 2 Up and Keon moved to Laurinburg, NC, where they met up with cousin Tavarius "T" Hall. Suffering from the grief of losing their friend, Keon gave up rapping.

2 Up continued to pursue his life-long dream, but eventually realized it didn't feel right to rap without Keon alongside him. Although it was difficult to convince Keon to begin rapping again, he was quickly motivated to place his thoughts on a pad, when he realized he had to live his life and chase his dreams in honor of his deceased friend, Anthony. The two siblings quickly applied T.Hall to their work after discovering his ability to sing, and the rest is history. After completing their first official mixtape, "Rock Da World", and performing at many events, Da Rookiez continue to tell stories of pain, joy, and reality through their music and continue to inspire young musicians to this day. A true example of heart and dedication.
